Friday's lab was so so fun!! As an "optometrist-in-progress" i finally got the chance to do something ill actually do in the future. Yes. We finally got the chance to get out hands on the opthalmoscope!! A direct opthalmoscope though, not an indirect one. we're not that pro yet. lol. We tried it on each other of course. You wont wanna get a guy/girl, if you're a girl/guy. well. unless he's like super engtao or she's like super lenglui. haha. Why? Cz u have to get so close that if u actually use ur right eye to look into the other's left eye, u may accidentally kiss him/her. ok. that's a lil exaggerating. But trust me, it's looks like you're kissing from some angle, especially from front lol.
opthalmoscope (on the left, without the pointy thing)
So it's to look at the retina. and we actually saw each other's optic disc with all the blood vessels coming out from it. So cool!! but it's kinda hard to find. u have to rotate the thing together with ur head rotating to follow the blood vessels in order to find the optic disc. hhmmm. im not good in describing, sorry. but yea, basically the optic disc looks like this, but it varies individually. Everyone has different patterns of blood vessels.
The optic discAnother great thing was that our group actually finished real early compared to others so the lab demonstrator actually showed us (by choosing 2 ppl of our group as the 'patient') how to use the indirect opthalmoscope. He even linked it to the television so we get to see their optic disc and also macula. Wow. This is the most fun lab ever!!
I am happy ^^
